Frequently Asked Questions
Can I really get an Electric Wheelchair at little or no cost?
- Yes, the actual cost will depend on your insurance benefits. If you have a primary and secondary insurance that will pick up 100% of the cost of an Electric Wheelchair, you will not have to pay for the Electric Wheelchair.
How long does the process usually take?
- On average, the process usually takes 20 to 30 days. However, this depends on how recently you've seen your physician and if you've had a recent mobility evaluation done by your physician.
What obligations does the patient need to undertake in order to complete this process?
- Once a patient is qualified, the only obligation they have is to either have recently seen their physician within the last 30 days for a mobility evaluation or schedule an appointment with their physician so she/he can write a prescription.
I am looking in to this for a loved one, Can I be the main contact?
- Yes, as long as you can provide us with the necessary information we can communicate through you.
I received an Electric Wheelchair through my insurance 5 years ago, but it is worn out and broken down, Can I get a new one?
- Yes, if you have had the same Electric Wheelchair for at least 5 years and it is still deemed medically necessary for you to have an Electric Wheelchair you can qualify for a new one.
If my insurance does not pay 100%, do you offer payment plan options?
- Yes, we can work with you on a payment plan until you have paid your responsibility in full if necessary due to financial hardship.
I weigh over 300 pounds. Do you have portable motorized wheelchair options for me?
- Due to the lack of durability of portable motorized wheelchairs, there isn't currently a portable option for patients over 300 pounds.
